I'm 22, I'm a left libertarian with very strong core beliefs in personal freedom and choice.
Not sure what else to say, to be honest, other than I've been following FME for several years now. FME and Jane's blogs are kind of my only anchors when I feel alienated and isolated, tbh.

Good to see another self-identified left libertarian here! I tend to use the 'A' word more myself. It tends to be misunderstood, but that can be an educational opportunity.

I make a point of accepting support from just about anywhere in the reasonable political spectrum. Libertarians are of course supportive, but there is also support from people of all major political parties and various political philosophies.

Welcome Sorgklann! Nice to hear from you and Willendorfer. I've called myself a Green Party Libertarian before, some may think that's quite an oxymoron. But I know many like me.

It's hard to find like-minded people, especially in america. I only know one other person who falls under the banner of left libertarian.
I usually just get lumped together with social justice liberals, who I tend to not get along with very well either. Mostly because I don't identify as a feminist, and because of that, the second it comes out it's assumed that I hate women for some reason.

The problem with a term like 'feminist' is that it doesn't mean what it used to mean.
Classical Feminism was all about equality for women, where women were put on an equal legal footing with men, rights to own property, rights to vote, rights to equal pay for equal work...etc. All of these were very good things, and nobody in their right mind would argue against classical feminism as it corrected the imbalance between the sexes that had previously existed.
HOWEVER, Modern Feminism is a very different thing. Modern feminism seems to be more about being entitled to special treatment just because one happens to be born female, and about hating on men, just because they are men. It is no longer about being equal to men, it is about being superior. Thus the goal is to achieve, through political correctness amongst other means, a matriarchal society in which men are not equal to women. Clearly this is ridiculous and is in fact an inversion of the message of classical feminism which is that both sexes are equal and should be treated equally. Sexism is still sexism regardless of whether it is women or men being oppressed, and, shock horror, it cannot be eliminated by more sexism.
Sorgklaan, I suspect that the feminists you encountered were in fact triggered modern feminists who percieve hate against women wherever they go, and cannot see the irony in their behaviour.

As with some other terms, it helps to clarify what one means, because connotations change and denotations also change.

You're not wrong.
In my mind, modern feminism is as misogynistic as it is misandrist, modern feminism treats all men like predators and all women like weak victims. For the most part, it's a predatory ideology that preys on young women. In the same way Incels prey on young men, honestly.
I don't even know if I like calling it " modern " feminism, because that sect of feminism has always existed. They just didn't have as large of a soapbox to stand on.

You said: 'It's hard to find like-minded people, especially in america. I only know one other person who falls under the banner of left libertarian.'
Perhaps you're not looking for like-minded people in the right places. There are plenty of left-libertarians and anarchists in the US. I seem to cross paths with new anarchists, in person or on-line, several times a year. There's even a caucus of left-lib/anarchists within Democratic Socialists of America, from what I hear. I'm not sure all of them would agree with your (or Jane's?) characterization of feminism, myself included, but we are left-libertarians and we are here. I suggest reading anything and everything by David Graeber and Kevin Carson, and visit C4SS.org (Centre for a Stateless Society).

Welcome to the group, Sorgklaan! I tend to support JD's view on modern 'new feminism.' I still think all women should be able to marry the person of their own choice, even if that person is a close relative. Almost nowhere gives any women (or men) this right at the moment. I hope we can be catalysts in making the change. Thanks for joining. All the best!
