Is your relationship legal where you live?

Unfortunately no, it’s not legal, especially since we’re first cousins.

I don't want you to reveal where you live, but know that if you live in the United States, the legality of your relationship will vary from state to state.

Hans is correct, of course. There are a handful of US states,like Texas, that actually criminalize sex between first cousins. About half of the other states will legally marry first cousins, including California, the most populous state. The rest neither criminalize nor legally marry.

So much for marriage equality.

Cousin relationships are legal in many parts of the world (in fact, in many countries you could legally marry) so if I were you, I'd check just to be sure that you're in a safe area and if not you could consider relocating to somewhere your relationship is legal. Welcome aboard
