At your age (and I assume he is an adult too), the family can certainly ostracize, or try to argue, or fight your feelings, but it can't stop you from dating, seeing, or talking to you; unless there are situations where you are physically or psychologically prevented from doing so by others.

Obviously the situation would certainly become hidden and secret, but this is currently the world we live in ...; but at least you could steal moments of happiness for the two of you.

I agree with you about choosing your own reactions, with one additional condition. If someone is getting harmed, then it’s natural to be hurt and shocked. Falling in love with your h/b didn’t harm anybody.
