Per the forum rules, I am above the age of 18.

I came here because I saw this forum mentioned on reddit recently.

I do not personally have any relevant background experience on the subject, and am curious to know more about the family dynamic in how these sorts of relationships form and exist.

I feel like the over-use of the term 'ally' in recent years has cheapened it and warped the connotations slightly. I suppose you could say "yes" in a loose sense of the word, but I'm not the militant extremist internet hacktivist type that takes part in social media gang wars.

Yes, I saw this mentioned in the intro/rules posts -- that's actually part of the reason I came here, to see if this place is more about rational discourse than poorly written smut fiction.

I’d venture to say that most of us here honestly enjoy a bit of smut fiction, and that we have our fair share of fetishes and perversions, but you won’t see any of that here. It’s well policed and the expressed goal is to have one safe place in the world to discuss our orientation. Sometimes it requires gymnastics to stay within the rules but it’s worth the effort.
