As luck would have it, this forum made a comeback only days after I'd got the new one set up. But I don't really feel we can trust forumup not to go down on us for weeks again, and it's highly inconvenient for both members and for the staff here.

That in mind, could all members, go and register on the new forums. If you want to register for the first time, I would encourage you to do so on the new forums. The site rules are very similar and you will still have to post an introduction containing your age and basic circumstance.

I hope enough long term members get to see this message and make their way here. It would be a shame to lose members just because of a move.

I try to look at threads on that old forum, and I keep getting redirected to shady ad sites. Me thinks this old forum is definitely compromised.

The ads are present on the old site unless you're logged in. I don't know why, but that's the way it works.

This site we're on is constantly pushing ads. I was just directed to two ads just clicking on this thread.

I see ads too, but normally they are at the top before the thread. I guess that's the price you pay for a free forum most of the time, the ads.

That's a disadvantage of a free forum. Like Jane said, that’s the price you have to pay. But if you are really annoyed by this or if it's limiting the performance I would suggest to use a browser add-on like adblock. It works fine for me, I don’t see ads.

Well for me it's not too much of an issue, the ads are only small and easy to scroll past. I am surprised that some people are getting popups though, I haven't had one.
