Introduction (Nolan)
Wed 8 Feb 2017 - 20:56
Hello there. You can call me Nolan (although real life name is Evan, but I don't use it for anonymity reasons). I'm male, 21, Spanish, asexual aro-homoromantic, secretly in love with my brother (20). I wish to help in any way I can to support and promote consanguinamory rights. Society needs to be fixed and I want to contribute in that change so I can actually see things get better within my lifetime. I'm so glad to know that this forum exists and is safe for people to discuss consanguinamory in a respectful way without fearing that people are gonna start calling me insane.

Welcome to the forums, I've upgraded your account so you can participate in the hidden forums too. You're quite right that things have to change, and that's what some of us here are working towards. You will find many friends here, it's a friendly community and we run a tight ship. It is not us who are the crazy ones, it's the people who condemn before even trying to understand who are crazy.

Thank you! I emailed you a few days ago btw, but I've contacted several others and am now on twitter/facebook too, and I feel like I can help our cause, I'll definitely try to do everything I can. Thanks!Jane Doe wrote:Welcome to the forums, I've upgraded your account so you can participate in the hidden forums too. LOL, I just made a blog post to inspire others to help out and have listed the ways in which people can help. I was going to get back to you about that... what kind of help are you thinking of doing? It would be nice to have more bloggers on the scene, or even people writing guest articles

That's great timing right there , thanks I'll read your post and think further of ways I can help. I don't have any particular ideas yet, so far I've just registered and joined all these sites that support consanguinamory. I am not a good writer because my English is not very good, it's not my first language. But now that I think of it, I actually could do some translating into Spanish for my fellow Spanish in consanguineous relationships (which are legal in Spain, but still, marriage isn't - except for cousins). Idk.Jane Doe wrote:LOL, I just made a blog post to inspire others to help out and have listed the ways in which people can help. Thanks, Sir!

Umm, I have a suggestion that I've been meaning to make, though maybe there should be a separate post about this. Someone left a message on the consanguinamory facebook group some weeks ago about a panel discussion that is coming up for an LGBT non-profit organization. This panel is going to be in D.C
It's going to be small (like 20 or more people) but it looks like a really great way to start a discussion on the needs of the consanguinamorous community. I messaged the person organizing it to ask what it's about and they said that they wanted to try to discuss this topic in the panel, starting with an intro into the history of consang relationships, the laws around the world, etc.
They'd be sending out interview questions for those wanting to have a say. This panel is supposed to be in April, 2017 so people have time to prepare... I think stuff like this is really really important, so I hope some of you think of participating. The organizer will protect your privacy. They said they want to try to change some people's minds about consang relationships so that consang people can have access to certain services (like medical services) without being discriminated against.
The person running the panels looks legitimate (according to their facebook profile). They seem very involved in other minority communities too. Please let me know if anyone is interested so I could ask them for more info on how ppl can help, and you can decide for yourself if you want to participate.

I would love to participate and help in any way I can if this is legit, so count me in. But I live in Europe (Spain), so I wonder if I could be of any help from over here as I certainly could not physically attend that panel.
