Introduction to my turned upside down life
Mon 6 Jan 2020 - 22:14
Hello, I am a female in my twenties. Last year I found my biological father and fell madly in love. I turned to alcohol to cope. Now I am at risk of losing my job...the only shred of identity I have left. I feel so broke and torn. I feel if he was a stable person I would be able to move on with my life with him but he’s not. He’s an alcoholic and does drugs. He’s not healthy for me. I try blocking him but I miss him so much. I am going to lose the person I looked all my life for. I’m struggling and torn. Has anyone been here?

Hi, Twentytwenty,
Welcome to Kindred Spirits. I've upgraded you to full membership so you can see and post in the members-only forums
I'm so sorry that GSA has been so horrible for you. We have many members who understand how soul-wrenching GSA can be, especially when it goes wrong.
You are definitely welcome here. We'll help you if we can.
Best,
UN

Hi twentytwenty and thank you for being so forthcoming. I feel we can probably help you. If you'd like saying more, we have a place where we post our story or history. Let us know if there's anything else we can do!

Hi TwentyTwenty!
I'm so sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I hope that we can offer some guidance as to how to handle things, and deal with things easier. With that being said, welcome!

Hi, twentytwenty,
I debated whether to send you a PM, but decided to follow up again instead. Your intro is so heartbreaking.
Alcohol is not your friend. I saw what it did to my family and so many others. You’ve seen what it’s doing to your father. I don’t want it to do the same to you. Please don’t try to drink your pain away. It will only make you hurt worse in the end.
I hope you’ll let us be your friends instead. This is as safe a place to talk about your GSA problem as I think you’ll ever find. Please tell us more about your situation in the Your Story or GSA forums. Those are only visible to introduced members. KS is as safe a place for you to talk as we can possibly make it. You’re safe here, and we want to help you.
Best,
UN
