Introduction, ally

Hello.
I am a student in my mid-twenties, in biology.
I discovered GSA incidentally while browsing the internet for issues related to biology and society.
I think I am an ally. As a biologist, I found all this very interesting... especially if consanguinamory happens to be a natural, world-wide "orientation", whatever that word means. Every orientation that seems to bring about a big deal of elation, has a right to exist, regardless of laws or morale. The opinion of the two partners is always, in any circumstances, the only thing that matters to me !

It's great to see more allies! It's even nicer to see that you come from that kind of background. Some people who study science carry around negative attitudes towards these kind of relationships, despite the fact that genetics is a far more complex subject than someone can learn even in school. It really pisses me off when those who are supposed to study facts in a neutral way are incapable of doing so because of internalized social stigmas.

I really hope you learn something here. I've learned a lot just by talking to some people and paying attention to what they have to say. I get the sense now that human sexuality is incredibly diverse and that many people that don't acknowledge that diversity are in denial about the truths around them.

Up to this point in time there have simply not been enough studies done, and there are many gaps in knowledge for this area. I really hope science and psychology catch up soon.

As you said, scientists are particularly conventionally thinking people.
I can give you one fact, which annoys deeply biologists, to the point it isn't even taught to students: spermatozoa have retro-transcriptases, which means they can absorb foreign genetic material, viruses or any DNA strand passing by and incorporate it to their own DNA.
Can you imagine the ruckus it would cause, if schools came to teach to young women: the more partners you have in the same time, the faster evolution happens ?
